Reviewing India’s battle against COVID-19!
The outbreak of the deadly Coronavirus across the world has created a global health crisis and has left the economy of the world shrinking and diminishing. India is not spared from this deadly virus. The number of cases of COVID-19 is rising exponentially. Every day, numerous people who get exposed to this deadly virus and many among them are losing their lives.
India currently occupies #3 position among the most impacted Covid-19 countries across the world after the United States and Brazil. The pandemic has deeply impacted the lives of people; the tourist spots are all vacant, the local businesses have shut down, unemployment rates are at its peak, people do not prefer to move out of their homes even after the lockdown has been eased.
India’s response to COVID-19After March 11, 2020, when the World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 as a global pandemic, India took quick and abrupt actions in getting prepared to deal with this deadly infection. India started thermal monitoring at the airports and other entry/exit points of the nation. Later, on March 22, 2020, the honorable Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, declared a nationwide Janta Curfew, following which, another announcement was made of the complete lockdown of the nation for 3 weeks. This got extended till May 31, 2020, in different Phases; Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3, and Phase 4.
Post, May 31, 2020, the lockdown got eased allowing people to move out of their homes and get back to their work. This has been done in different Unlock phases. Since Unlock Phase 1, the number of COVID-19 cases has been on the surge with more people getting infected with each passing day. Seeing the rising level of cases, the Government has built and improved COVID-care centers throughout the country. The government had also launched an application named as Aarogya Setu to track the Covid-19 cases across the country. Due to the timely actions taken by the Government, when the number of cases is rising daily, the number of patients getting recovered is also improving.
Places with high number of Covid-19 cases in India:Most of the cases in India belong to the given states/Union Territories:
- Tamil Nadu
The highest number of cases are there in Maharashtra. These 3 places account to have the majority of the Covid-19 cases in the country.
The Challenges faced by IndiaDealing with the Covid-19 situation has not been easy so far. When at one stage India was battling the Covid-19 situation, at the same time, India was dealing with the other domestic/international issues that include the issues related to:
- Tablighi Jamaat
- Migrant Workers
- Cyclone Amphan
- Tiddi Attack
- India-Nepal Tension
- India-China Border Tension, and more.
Instead of all these challenges, India has handled the situation prudently. The Covid-19 testing has increased and more centers have been built over time to deal with the situation.
A Special Thanks to the Medical Staff MembersThe hospitals and the staff members are doing a wonderful job of dealing with the situation effectively. They are working day and night restlessly without going back to their homes or meeting their loved ones. They are the true heroes of this pandemic.
It is all due to the hard work done by the Medical Staff members, the cases of Covid-19 are under control in India. They are still less in comparison to the other nations. Today, when the system in the most developed countries of the world has failed, India is doing much better to protect its vast population.
